Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice is a magical time of year. This solstice ushers in winter with deep mystery and power. There are tremendous benefits for the entire planet, yet the average person knows very little about how to fully put this sacred healing time to good use .

It’s all in the Meaning …

The word solstice literally means … a furthest or culminating point; a turning point. If you ponder this a moment it seems obvious that a solstice, of which there are 2 … summer solstice and winter, must signify a big change. Think of it as a transformation where one energy gives way to another. At the ushering in of old man winter, great changes are occurring in nature as well as the psyche of man.

Wouldn’t You Agree …

Humanity seems to be in some sort of a rhythm with this … farthest point of darkness, being produced by the sun cycle. At the time of the winter solstice, the daylight hours are at their minimum and darkness is at a maximum, hence the longest night of the year. In the Northern Hemisphere the longest night happens around December 21st or 22nd and in the Southern Hemisphere it falls on June 21st or 22nd.

Isn’t it a Mystery …

Many cultures around the world seem to naturally have created major celebrations this time of year. Yule, Christmas, Hanukkah, Saturnalia, St Lucy’s Day, Lenaea, Soyal, are just a few of the numerous titles given to the sacred events held during this strong seasonal energy. Cultural leaders are linked profoundly to the solstice as well, for example, the enlightenment of Buddha, the birth of Christ, the death of Osiris, and the list goes on and on.

Either Coincidently or on Purpose …

Have you ever stopped to wonder why this time of year is so important? Why has mankind given such significance and ceremony to this shift of light and dark? We must know more, on a inner level, than we think. It appears that we have an internal wisdom that prompts us to act out some deeper meaning of this Winter Solstice Season. The affects on us go far beyond a long night. Our souls stir and we tend to call forth the very best from with in ourselves.

The Big Question …

Is there more to this puzzle and the mysteries of the Winter Solstice? Consider the symbolism that seems to be universal … the evergreen, the wreath or circle, candles and lights, colors of red, green and white. Truly there is much knowledge being brought to the forefront of our consciousness as winter begins. Sacredness is all around you as you participate in the rituals of renewal called forth by the season.

The Mystery Revealed …

Blessing Ritual Cleanse Bath

The Blessing Ritual Cleanse Bath is a process to gift yourself, at the time of seasonal change. It is in honor
 of your personal journey.

You can really benefit from this powerful information.

Ceremonial, Blessing Bowls Blessing, Cleansing Ritual Bath:

This Ritual is a best preformed as near to the day of the Equinox or Solstice as possible … before the Blessing Bowls Blessing begins …

You are preparing your personal vessel to open up to the Seasonal energies safely and fully.

You will be approaching the gateway of ‘Oneness’ and you must be clear, balanced and centered.

1. The optimal time of day for this healing ritual is dawn.

2. Find a quiet place to bathe in a tub of clear water. Outside is ideal when possible. Do the best you can by opening up a window or bringing elements of the outdoors into your space.

Before you enter the water …

3. If you know the clearing sequence of the Blessing Bowls or the clearing sequence of your pendulum you can use it at this point.

4. Frankincense oil, can be added to the water. The next choice would be ylang, ylang.

Burn a pure white candle or allow it to be dark. The incense of copal or cedar can be burned but only before you enter the water.

You may also like to smudge yourself with a sage stick. The smudging also needs to be done before you enter the water and then put out.

5. Be sure to place your ceremonial robe or special piece of clothing near by to put on after your cleansing ritual.

Wear your ceremonial clothing for at least an hour after you exit the water.

Ready to Enter the Water …

6. Stand firmly on the ground with your back straight and feel the support of the stable Earth beneath you. Now you are ready to enter the water. Put only your feet and lower legs in the water. Imagine your body absorbing the water like a sponge. After you have been filled to the tip top of your head enter the water completely.

Once comfortably in the water, rest in a position that best suits you. Imagine that you and the water are one, as your entire body has been filled. There is no separation between the water molecules and your cells.

7. Determine where the fire of the sun resides in relationship to where you are. With your consciousness, make contact with the fire of the sun and allow it stream toward you in a beautiful ray.

As the suns energy reaches you let it enter into your body, gently, through the top of your head. Now see it spread all through your body down to your toes.

Be at one with the fire of the sun as it resides gently in your cells.

8. This is the point where you must submerge your head into the water as well. Only leave your mouth and nose slightly above water as to allow for breathing.

When you are ready, take 3 deep and full breaths, releasing them slowly. Accept the energy of the air into your body and invite it to fill your cells with life.

Your cells are now filled with the vital energies of earth, air, fire and water.

9. Place your Blessing Bowl on your lap or on the bottom of the tub if it will fit without being totally submerged.

Begin by tapping the rim easily and then slowly play the rim. As the sound resonates out, say or sing the sounds .. E-OW-OH. Repeat the sound for a total of three times.

Notice the water taking on the vibration and frequency of your Blessing Bowl.*

( *If you do not have a Blessing Bowl use a singing bowl or simply sing the sounds.)

10. Take a few moments to bask in the wonder of your ritual cleanse as you know that you are being relieved of all energies that block your clear and receptive channel.

Exiting the Water …

11. When you are ready to exit the water, imagine the energies of earth, air, fire and water, rolling off of you like the drops of water itself.

Inwardly experience the spaciousness and lightness of being.

You will be left with a bright and clear light all around you, within and with out!

12. Give thanks!
